i’m a 20 year old woman and 3 of my friends (also women) and i like to play pick-up basketball. it’s great playing 2v2 but lately we’ve wanted to be able to scrimmage with a larger group — 3v3 at least. but we have had pretty much no luck finding any other women who play basketball to join our scrimmages ://

  • August O.’s Friendship Story

As obvious as this sounds, I wish I had Sidekick in my first semester of college. I didn’t have much of a problem making friends in that first semester but that was only because I was fortunate to live next to people I really enjoyed being around. I would’ve loved to have made more friends by just posting that I was walking around campus or that I was going to go on a run or play some casual soccer. Even now, I’m always looking to meet new people and it can be very difficult to just walk up to some random person and ask to go on a walk or to just chat. Having an app like Sidekick where people that are eager to meet and talk with new people would’ve been great in that first semester and would still be great now.

  • Lily R.’s Friendship Story

I have a lot of trouble focusing sometimes. I don’t know if you’ve heard of body doubling but it’s when two people do chores or tasks together. Either the same project or different things but side by side. It really helps motivate me to work and focus. But I have no clue who I’d ask to body double with me since my school friends are all off campus for the summer. Sidekick would be helpful because I could put out a request for a body double for doing my summer work.

  • Bisola O.’s Friendship Story

The experience in which I had that made me wish I had Sidekick was during the winter study internship. After being on campus for the entire fall semester, which the pace of life can be better defined as boring, the question on I, and my friends minds was finding something and anything exciting to do with ourselves. The winter study period was especially hard because they were less people on campus, it was cold, and I spent most of my days indoors with absolutely little to do. I would have liked Sidekick, not only because I have very little idea on what is fun around Williamstown or I’ve already done it all, but because organizing schedules and transportation can be so hard.

  • Margot M.’s Friendship Story

i’m a 20 year old college student who plays the violin and a couple years ago i decided i wanted to get into playing fiddle. i asked my violin instructor and my chamber music instructor for recommendations for how to learn more about fiddle music. they gave me some tips and pointed me towards some resources to look at. but the thing with fiddle is that you really can’t learn from a book of sheet music in a room by yourself. the culture of fiddle music and the spirit behind the style of music itself requires in-person jam sessions and learning new songs and harmonies by ear, etc. i ended up attending a fiddle camp to learn more. and i learned some new tunes and had a good time. but i didn’t make lasting connections with other fiddlers that would help me keep learning because every one else there fell in two camps: elementary and middle school kids and retirees. i didn’t meet anybody my age. after i got home from the camp, i looked on meet up for jam sessions in my area, but it was clear that i’d have the same problem there as i did at the camp. all in all, it was hard to find opportunities to play the fiddle with people my age — despite living in a college town — so i’ve just been playing fiddle on my own.

  • Beth K.’s Friendship Story

I can’t thank the universe enough for bringing me my friend Sophie. We met each other for the first time at a one-time-only film festival event in our town. We exchange contact info and kept meeting up to watch and discuss our favorite films, and eventually became great friends. Now, she’s one of my best friends in the world and we still love watching movies all the time.

    Heather M.’s Friendship Story

My sister is home from college for the summer and has been pretty bored ever since because all her college friends are across the country. She likes playing the electric bass and misses playing in the rock band she joined in college, but she doesn’t quite know where to begin when it comes to starting a band or finding a band to join in our hometown. Being so bored is making her kinda annoying to live with lolll

    Chloe K.’s Friendship Story

On several occasions i’ve met friends of my parents who are middle-aged men that meet up with friends all the time to play sports. i’d love the opportunity to play pick-up basketball or softball with people my age, but i’m a young woman so i don’t think those groups really exist.
